Dakshina Kannada

Dakshina Kannada was a part of the erstwhile Madras Presidency, before 1860. It is during the resorganisation of states in 1956, that Dakshina Kannada was transferred to Mysore state. The present day Dakshina Kannada district was formed in 1997. The district is famous for red clay roof tiles, cashewnut and its products, banking, education, and for its exotic cuisine.
